Pete Carroll's cryptic Twitter clues

By Rob Staton
If you're not on twitter - I'd recommend signing up. Not just because you can follow Seahawks Draft Blog (@robstaton) but you can keep up with Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll (@PeteCarroll). Today, he's been hinting at Seattle's potential draft picks by tweeting songs and artists. It's cryptic to say the least, but fun to guess. For example - 'Let the Beat Build' is clearly a reference to LT Bryan Bulaga? Right?

  1. They play Jump Around at Wisconsin games- Obrien Schofield in the 5th/6th??

  2. I think Jump Around is hinting at trading picks possibly trading the 14th pick.

  3. Soul Sacrifice = Strong Safety?

  4. California Love... Maybe one of the SC guys (Charles Brown)? Or they love Jahvid Best and will trade down at 14 and take the California RB?

haha. Could be anything. Hell, even Clausen is FROM cali originally.

  5. It could be that the songs are referencing a a player and that the order he has them going could be how their draft board is set up.

Personally I think he is just messing around and giving the fans something to keep them occupied for the next 24 hours.

  6. Here is some insider info. Yes, I do have a source. I haven't seen this anywhere in the press:

At headquarters, Pete Carroll has a nice stereo in his office and often cranks, and I mean *cranks* the tunes, classic rock, rap, hard rock, basically a general variety of rockin tunes.

Maybe he's just posting what he happens to be slammin right then.

smooth criminal by mj......... Hmm, Espn is reporting that the Steelers have called all the teams picking in the top 10 and are offering Big Ben for their 1st. I'm not sure I'd describe Ben as "smooth", but he does seem to get away with stuff...

  8. Sounds like one of Carroll's USC pranks.

  9. Ya I wouldn't read too much into these. Sure...he could be giivng hints to certain players on their wish list, but REALLY...you know he's not going to give anyone outside the Seahawks FO any REAL ideas on what they are going to draft. That would be very stupid of him to do...

Sure Brian Bulaga, Jahvid Best, Eric Berry and Charles Brown are on our radar. I don't think thats news. :)

  11. Kerwin on Sirrus Radio said Pete has always been looking to get the fans and the coaches in direct contact. It was his(Kerwins) opinion that these tweets were PC's clues to us where the Hawks were going to go in the draft. It didn't sound like he was thinking each song was for a different player. Maybe they are all about a single player. When it's all over I bet PC tells us why each song was a clue

  12. Isn't Big Balls what they called PC at USC? So a USC connection with one of the draftees?
    maybe C Brown

  13. First, I think this is a joke. But lets entertain the new coach and have some fun with it.

Soul Sacrifice = willingness to trade #6.

Let the beat build (lines: Straight off the block with it, Eagle street to be specific) = Trade with Philly.

Back Door Man = BD man = Bryant, Dez

Jump Around = Jump up and trade down or Clausen as was already mentioned above.

Smooth Criminal = Kareem JACKSON (hope not)

California love = already mentioned, Jahvid Best (hope so)

Thats all I got. Out of time for now.

  14. Pearl Jam - Jeremy

Jeremy Williams in the 4th. Book it. We can't get enough WRs named Williams.

Honestly, I think Petey is just having some fun and messing around with us.
