Interesting, I could see not just one but two of those guys ending up with the Hawks.
Not sure if this quote from Chris Steuber's been posted here yet:
The Seattle Seahawks don’t seem like a possibility [for Haden], even though they could use an upgrade in their secondary, because sources have revealed to me that the top two players on their list are juniors, Rutgers offensive tackle Anthony Davis and Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen.
I'll admit, this video made me warm up a bit to Jimmy Clausen. I've never been a fan, although he seemed to me like he will do well in the NFL. I was always turned off by his overall personality. He seemed cocky and there were rumors that he was a terrible teammate. Those rumors could still come out to be true, but at least from videos like this he doesn't seem to be as abrasive as I thought. My opinion changes all the time but right now, I'm fairly comfortable with thought of Clausen at #6.
Steve in Spain, that is very interesting. I'm afraid the link didn't work because you have to sign up to view the story, but that seems like a very real possibility of Clausen/ Davis.
Regarding Griffen, you can see how he got the "disappointment" label. He looks like a beast but he never turned that into on the field domination.
Chris Steuber's leak is pretty interesting. Clausen's name is not surprising, but Davis kind of is. I hope Gibbs endorsed Davis and is up for the challenge, because otherwise... square peg meet round hole.
Great video. I could easily see two of those five being drafted by Seattle.
Very interesting information there Steve, I'll look into this in greater detail on the blog and will send Chris an email to try and find out more. Davis would surprise me simply because he doesn't fit the zone blocking scheme or the size of offensive lineman Alex Gibbs usually prefers. Needs must I suppose if this proves true.
Awesome video! It's good to see the guys that are willing to go the extra mile to prepare for the combine. There's my boy Taylor Mays doing the freakish. Exciting to see Jimmy Clausen working out with thses guys. I could see three of those guys on this team. Mays, Clausen, and Spiller.
These camps are pretty typical for high draft picks, right? I definitely thought it was interesting to get a look into one. Clausen came off as more likable than I expected and there was a pretty cool "Superfriends/Justice League" vibe going on there with all the star athletes.
I was surprised by the boot on Clausen. Was the surgery pretty serious or is it more of a protective thing to immobilize the toe?
I think the boot will largely just be on to give absolute extra protection during any light drills and to allow it to heal fully. It's not a particularly serious injury for a quarterback. He won't throw at the combine or run a 40 yard dash, but I'm guessing he'll be there for interviews and measurements. They'll be more important than anything anyway for Clausen.
I love watching stuff like this because it shows you the players that we could draft. So much during draft time, people will say we need a S so we have to take one in round 1 but teams dont draft positions, they draft people, they draft players. And so even in a video like this, it shows players that could be on our team, not positions.

Sounds like possible draft maneuvering talk. Trying to build interest in players for a hopeful trading partner on draft day?
