Kiper, McShay on receivers and Thursday links

Mel Kiper has updated his mock draft. You'll have to be an ESPN insider to see the full list - the Seahawks take Sam Bradford (QB, Oklahoma) at #6 and Everson Griffen (DE, USC) at #14. Having avoided the spread offense in SoCal for so long, would Pete Carroll really draft the spread's poster boy to guide his return to the NFL?

Mike Mayock runs through his top five (or should that be top seven?) offensive tackles. The usual names are on the list, but since his last compilation Charles Brown and Bruce Campbell have over taken Vladimir Ducasse.

The Sporting News reports that wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has broken his foot and will miss the NFL combine. It remains to be seen how this will affect his stock, but he was already a difficult prospect to judge coming from Georgia Tech's run heavy triple option offense.

Dez Bryant says the NCAA suspension that prevented him competing throughout most of 2009 was 'unfair'. Bryant: "I would tell the college players to be honest at all times, but at the same time I just feel like - I don't know - the NCAA, they're going to do whatever they want to do. I'm just going to leave it at that. I just feel like it was really unfair."

Chris Low writes that Ryan Mallet has broken his foot and will be out for 3-4 months. I'm a fan of Mallet's and believe he could be a high pick next year. This shouldn't affect him too much if everything heals sufficiently.

Len Pasquarelli reports that Ndamukong Suh will participate in all combine work outs next week. It'll be interesting to see how he compares to Gerald McCoy - especially in the speed drills. That's one area McCoy might have the edge.

Eeeeek!!!

Bradford @#6?

Doesn't seem like a good fit. I'm sure I'm not alone on that.

Sammy to the Seahawks I'm loving it

Cysco you are alone on that yes, Sammy's the real deal and Hasselbroken stinks and needs to get out of town.

Cysco, you are not alone. I'm not enthused with the idea of thinking Sam Bradford can succeed behind a terrible O-line with no weapons to work with.

I'm not thrilled with any QB in this draft. That said, I'd much rather have Clausen because we know he can take a hit and has lived under center.

I'm not anti-Bradford by any means, but I just don't trust QBs who have never faced pressure because the NFL is a completely different beast than college.

I think that if Bradford is around at 14 we should take a big look, 6 is to early and to much money. Not because of the talent, but because of the injury problems. We dont want to go from broken Hass, to and broken rookie. I would love to have a Bradford with not injury question marks, but we don't have that chance.

Hey Rob, you should check out John Morgan's scouting report(ish) on Brian Price. Is it true that he is limited in his pass rushing tecnique and relies on the bull rush?

John Morgan's scouting report on Brian Price is 5-6 posts long and doesn't even track 4 quarters of football. Can you evaluate a player based on one single game, let alone a partial game? The scouting report also includes gems like this:

"Brian Price probably has the best bull rush of any tackle in his class. That's remarkable for a player his size."

Why would you be excited that an undersized DT has a good (vs college competition) bull-rush? He's not going to be able to use it very much, if at all, in the pros against much larger competition.

Morgan now wants to "scout" every player on every team in the NFL (having abruptly abandoned advanced NFL statistics).
