Seahawks showing interest in Unga?

By Rob Staton
The supplemental draft takes place on July 15th and one of the prospects I've been asked about is BYU's running back Harvey Unga. My knowledge of him is limited - I had only one opportunity to watch BYU last year in the first week of the season. Jay Drew from the Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Seahawks were one of a number of teams keeping tabs on Unga in a recent work out. He was listed at 6'1" and 244lbs as the scouts looked on and would offer the Seahawks a size option at the position. He ran in the 4.64 range.

If Hawks take Unga, don't they have to give up the same round pick in next years' draft? I.E. if they take in 5th round of supplemental, they give up next year's fifth?
Where would you have projected Unga if he entered the draft this year? Sixth rounder?

Basically, any interested parties submit a 'bid' and if succesful would have to give up a pick. A team may use a 5th or 6th rounder on Unga. Seattle will have an advantage having only won five games last year. Whether they wish to part with picks now, considering what they've already given up (third rounder in Whitehurst deal) I'm not sure. It depends how highly they grade Unga.

In terms of where he may or may not have gone this year - it's hard to tell without a combine on his CV and the usual breakdowns done pre-draft. We've seen bigger backs with some issues drop out of the draft completely.

Looks like a real work horse for BYU. He is worth it. I think he would have gone 3-4th round in draft.
