Thomas and Williams set to declare

Two more prospects announced the will declare for the 2010 draft. Earl Thomas (S, Texas) and Damian Williams (WR, USC) will both be available for selection this April. Thomas is a red shirt sophomore - it's not surprising he's leaving the college game after a tremendous year where he notched eight interceptions. Neither is it a shock that Williams will leave USC - he's already got his degree and and had a big year for the Trojans. Both could go a bit higher than most expect.

Both Williams and McKnight intrigue me. Especially if we get PC as our couch. Williams is looking second round and McKnight projects into the fourth. I really like McKnight in the fourth.

I'd be surprised if McKnight made it to the fourth round. He's a playmaker, you can use him as a runner, receiver and return specialist. He's done a good job to try and limit the fumbles, that was his issue. He'll more than likely run well at the combine, that should be enough to keep him in the 2-3 round range. If he'd been used as more of a featured back at USC and not a heavy rotation, he could've had first round potential.

I think Williams is has to be a first round pick. Perhaps a team in the playoffs, will look at him closely. Baltimore need a young wide out. The Jets also and they'll know the relationship between Sanchez and Williams. I think he could be gone before both those teams, he's got everything you want from a receiver. It wouldn't surprise me if he went in the teens.

But both are the kind of playmaker Seattle lacks, it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest either could be with the 'Hawks next year - regardless of the identity of the new coach.

I would be happy with McKnight in the second or definitely third, if we had that pick. I wonder if his injury history is going to scare some teams away? They are the types that will fly up draft boards though after good pro days.

You'd have to expect some lesser underclassman prospects from USC to think about declaring if they fear/think/know their head coach is leaving town. For juniors at USC, this might be as high as their stock ever gets.

with Branch and Burleson being free agents it might make some sense to a WR in the second round.

It would make sense to find a wide receiver even if Burleson is retained. The Seahawks lack a real outside threat. Houshmandzadeh needs a partner, he needs someone who can work outside to allow him to be used creatively. They need a go-to-guy. Of course, they also need to find better production from both the offensive line and the quarterback to make it work, not to mention a legitimate running game.

1st - Gerald McCoy
1b - Lupati
2 - Williams or Golden Tate
4th - Charles Brown

The Seahawks will be very fortunate to get Gerald McCoy, but I have a hard time seeing Charles Brown dropping to round four. That won't happen.

A kid can dream
If we get 1b and 2 I'll be happy. The others are more gravy.
so
Haden
Lubati
Williams or Tate

Iupati is certainly worth consideration at #14, likewise Haden at #6. But I'm not the biggest fan of Golden Tate, I wouldn't take him that early.
