A look into the future...

By Rob Staton
Imagine the scene... we're 12 months down the line. We've analysed the 2011 draft prospects, we've been through a couple dozen mock drafts. We're in New York waiting for the first overall pick to be announced and Roger Goodell utters the words: "With the first overall pick, the Seattle Seahawks select..."

Walter Cherepinsky updated his 2011 mock draft today (never too early) and he has the Seahawks picking first overall. This coincides with his pre-draft power rankings which have Seattle ranked 32nd (that sounds better than 'last').

"I ranked the Seahawks 29th in my previous update. Since then, they lost Patrick Kerney to retirement and Rob Sims in a trade with the Lions. Unless Clipboard Jesus is capable of performing miracles, Seattle is the worst team in the NFL. Aside from the linebackers and tight ends, the Seahawks are hurting at every single position." - Walter Cherepinsky

No prizes for guessing who the Seahawks select with the first overall pick in Walter's mock.

Yes! I'd put up with an 0-16 year to see Locker in a hawks uniform. In reality, I think Pete Carroll will lead this team to around the same record, most likely between picks 5 and 10.

Seems a little harsh, but I don't expect them to do much this year. I also don't blame Schneider/Carroll. I think Ruskell left this team in terrible condition and it will take a couple of years to recover from his incompetence.

Wow. That's depressing. I'm really hoping that we are the surprise of the season...however, I'm not holding out much hope. On paper, we just don't look that good. Draft day may bring some hope though.

I doubt we'll have the worst record, but I wouldn't bet against having the first pick.

LOCKER please!..I will take a year of losing if we can grab the Montlake Jake next year..

An OT and a safety are not going to win us any more games this year, not with the subtraction's we have had so far.

are we really worse than the rams? come on now. also, in the NFL with great game planning and scheming, anything is possible. Let's not give up on the season before it has begun. Remember how bad the NFC west is...and I could not stand a 0-16 season just for jake locker. that would just mean we'd have another 2-3 terrible seasons. He's not exactly ready to jump in and light up the Pro ranks.

"One round trip to Suckville please!"

Management is tearing up this team in order to start over again to build something with a future.

The OL is not a one year fix, 1st rounder or not, neither is many of the positions we are severely hurting at right now like QB/WR/S/DE.

For the reckord I am all for starting over. What was in place wasn't working at all. I doubt that we'll be picking first in 2011 but it is going to be a rough season. I just hope we can see the embryo of a working ZB running game, an Aaron Curry that is making strides and anything that will give me hope for a brighter 2012-2013...

i could see it...i think this hawks team will be utterly terrible this year. they have so little talent that can really change games, and they look awful at QB. Hasselbeck looked like the worst QB in the NFL at the end of last year, and I dont expect much from a guy who never threw a pass in 4 years.

getting Locker would be exciting. Certainly Indy fans dont care about that season that allowed them to get the first pick to draft peyton. (and no I do not have delusions that locker is even close to that good)

what do you guys think about Andrew luck?

You guys have GOT to be kidding! If PC throws out this year and is the worst in the league I think I will become a Raiders fan or somthing! At least those fans know that they suck cus Big Al is senile! Locker could get hit by a truck this year at U-Dub(or a linebacker)and he would be toast for us or anyone else.
Don't parents teach their children anything anymore? Remember these?
Don't put off till tommorrow what you can do today

or

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
We were not the worst team in the NFL two years ago when we couldn't keep a rec on the feild
We were not the worst team in the NFL last year when we couldn't keep an O-line on the feild and our coaches were playing for two first round draft choices.
And we better NOT be the worst team in the NFL this year!
No way this staff tanks on purpose... they want to make their mark in this league too
