Matt Bowen at the National Football Post is reporting that Oklahoma Sooners QB Sam Bradford will declare for the NFL draft barring any injury setbacks in Thursday's BCS championship game. The news quickly follows an earlier story which claims Matt Stafford will declare later today. The two quarter backs are likely to battle it out to see who will be drafted first overall. Bradford recently won the Heisman Trophy and had a touchdown-interception ratio of 48-6. He is listed at 6'4" and 218 lbs.

I am really hoping the Seahawks do not fall for Bradford. I think he will slip because teams, upon further evaluation, will be tentative at spending a high pick on a kid (with some nice tools) who plays in a system where he does not face pressure, spends most of his time in the shotgun, and is not making any pre-snap reads, as evident by looking to the sideline for adjustments. He may turn out to be a good NFL player, but I think that is much further down the road and is not worth spending a high first rounder.
Bradford is a really accurate passer and has the wits and the size to be a great NFL quarter back. He's young though and has played behind a great offensive line in Oklahoma. He has also played exclusively in the shotgun from a no huddle offense. My (un)expert opinion would be that the talent is there, but he needs to learn his trade a little more with a good quarter backs coach. I think Kansas City, where I currently have him going in my mock draft, could be a good fit. He can sit in the immediate future behind Tyler Thigpen and become a more complete NFL passer. The Chiefs are also a young team and could essentially 'grow together' with Bradford.
