Monday links - countdown to combine

Chad Reuter reviews this week's scouting combine and lists some of the potential stories that could come out of Indianapolis. Things aptly 'kick off' with the kickers on Wednesday, alongside the offensive linemen and tight ends.

Mike Mayock from the NFL Network reviews his top five tight ends.

Ross Tucker says the combine is over rated. He uses Vernon Gholston as an example, a prospect who excelled in work outs last year and was taken 6th overall by the New York Jets. He struggled as a rookie, recording just 13 tackles.

Evan Silva has some thoughts on this week's event, suggesting Malcolm Jenkins can boost his stock with a fast 40 yard dash and listing some 'under the radar' prospects to keep an eye on.

Pat Kirwan reports on a large New Jersey representation in this years scouting combine. Prospects such as Eugene Monroe, Knowshon Moreno and Malcolm Jenkins all have ties to the area.

In other news, Matt McGuire thinks that Mel Kiper deserves a place in the hall of fame. ESPN's outspoken draft expert has been airing his views on screen since 1984.

Scott Wright at Draft Countdown has joined the campaign, stating Kiper's name has become "synonymous" with the NFL Draft.

Kyle Rota from College Talent Scout has published his latest mock draft. He has Seattle taking Jason Smith (OT, Baylor) with the fourth overall pick.
