Senior Bowl update & more

More news is filtering out following the first day of Senior Bowl workouts. Speculation is suggesting that Jason Smith (OT, Baylor) has withdrawn from the event. There's no confirmed reason for this yet but with Eugene Monroe (OT, Virginia) not there at all, it means Michael Oher (OT, Ole Miss) is the only top ranked tackle taking part.

Shawn Zobel gives his day one analysis, reporting on BJ Raji's dominance (DT, Boston College) and that Rhett Bomar (Sam Houston State) impressed more than Graham Harrell (Texas Tech) in the battle of the senior quarter backs.

Tony Pauline from SI.com offers his thoughts. He also recommends Raji stating he was "unblockable". He wasn't impressed with USC's Rey Maualuga however, suggesting he wasn't "in the best shape" or mentally and physically prepared.

Matt McGuire writes an interesting blog live from Mobile. He had a chance to speak with Chris Steubar from Scout.com at the weigh in and discuss the Stafford vs Sanchez debate. He also interviews Rhett Bomar.

Meanwhile in other news, Brian Van Ochten writes for MLive.com that it's increasingly unlikely Detroit will take a quarter back first overall. It's more of a personal opinion and contradicts what the franchise has previously said. I would still predict either Matt Stafford or Mark Sanchez will be taken first overall.

Here's an audio link for a draft discussion between Rob Rang and ESPN's John Clayton.
