Scout report: Ziggy Hood (DT, Missouri)

I had a request from some readers this week for information on Evander 'Ziggy' Hood - a defensive tackle prospect coming out of Missouri. Kyle Rota from College Talent Scout has obliged with a full report on Ziggy. This week the player himself admitted to receiving a grilling from Seahawks staff (including Tim Ruskell and Jim Mora) so he could be a prospect very much on Seattle's radar.

Sounds like he could be a steal in the third, not sure about using our second on him, unless we trade down with our first and get some extra picks.

Thanks Rob, the blog is great!

Sounds a little bit like Rocky Bernard: not too big and dominant but a fundamentally sound tackle who could rotate out with other players.

Rob, where did you read that part about Hood getting a grilling from Ruskell and Mora?

Hi Kurt,

I've posted a link below. It's from a Q&A Chris Steuber from Scout.com held with Hood recently.

I watched Hood a lot during Senior Bowl week in practice and in the game. He was very impressive in practice and solid on game day. He is very quick inside with a Dwight Freeney spin-move that gave the opposing linemen fits during one-on-one drills. I'd love to see the hawks pick up hood in the 3rd or, as suggested above, if they acquire a later 2nd round pick in a trade scenario.

Thanks for the insight Chris. He's not a prospect I've seen much of personally, but sounds like the typical Ruskell mid-round DT. We've had some luck with Mebane and there's high hopes for Red Bryant if he stays healthy. Maybe 'Ziggy' will be added to the rotation?
